The United Church of Wayland welcomes the public to a program on human trafficking on Thursday, July 14 at 6 PM at the church, 411 E Superior, Wayland. The speaker will be a representative from Women At Risk (WAR), a nationwide organization which educates the public on the impact of human trafficking and how to possibly identify its victims. WAR also focuses on freeing these victims and providing a safe house for up to 30 days.
“Due to its location and other factors Michigan is the second largest state in the country involved in human trafficking.” says Linda Rough, the coordinator of this event.” There are victims before our eyes who are trapped into the lifestyle of prostitution with no escape and we are totally unaware of their situation.”
