2022 Chamber Christmas Parade

This year, the parade theme is The Grinch
The parade theme allows those entering the parade to decorate accordingly. It is not required to decorate to the theme, but it is required to be included in theme judging. Cash prizes are awarded for the top three non-profit participants who decorate according to the theme. For Profit businesses are eligible to win the annual Christmas Parade. Please note that the Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce provides Santa and Mrs. Claus for the parade so it is requested that all other parade entries do not use another Santa, or Mrs. Claus, in their displays. This will avoid potential confusion for the children. 

2022 Christmas Parade Grand Marshal: Dr. Michael DeWeerd
We are excited to announce Dr. Michael DeWeerd as our 2022 Christmas Parade Grand Marshal. Dr. DeWeerd has a lifelong heart of appreciation for our community. Dr. DeWeerd was one of the first paramedics in Wayland and has volunteered for the Wayland EMS and their Board of Directors. Dr. DeWeerd started his dental practice on Plum Street in Wayland in 1976. He renovated the entire building which included his office in the lower level and his home in the upper level where he and his wife Martha lived. In 1999 he moved his practice to Superior Street where Metro Health currently resides. As Metro continued to grow, Dr. DeWeerd started new construction in 2008 at the vacant land next door where he has been practicing since 2009. His goal for the area was to have high quality medical and dental care in the community.  He is admired for his strong family values as well as his calm and stable leadership. Dr. DeWeerd believes in volunteering and giving back to others in his community. He is also involved with Calvary Church where he served both on the board and as a Sunday School Teacher. He has been a part of many mission trips to Guyana, South America to serve with other local dentists providing much needed dental care. Dr. DeWeerd truly believes in serving the Wayland community and is proud to be our 2022 Christmas Parade Grand Marshal.
 
Interested in taking part in the parade?
Please register using the Registration Link/Button.  In the "comments" section in the registration, please include if you are registering a float, a vehicle, horses, walkers, farm machinery or anything else you may be registering.
For parade participants, vehicle line up begins at 10:00am and walkers line up at 10:30. Participants are encouraged to play Christmas music via bluetooth speakers from any floats.  Parade participation is FREE. Warm Clothing and Non-Perishable Food WANTED!
In addition, the Wayland Boy Scout Troop 97 is encouraging parade spectators to bring non-perishable food items or gently used or new coats, gloves, scarfs, boots, and hats. There will be many Boy Scouts walking in the parade picking up these items along the route. Items can be handed to the Scouts as the walk by. All items will go towards the Wayland Area Christmas Project.
